Larnik

Getting started with Larnik

Create an account, make your first list and start tracking your tasks and activities.

Larnik keeps track of your tasks, activities and the things you care about — to-dos, projects, films to watch, games in progress, books, recipes, anything with a title and a state. This page takes you from a blank account to a working list.

Create an account

On the sign-in screen, switch to Register and give a username, an email address and a password of at least six characters. Sign-in accepts either the username or the email afterwards, and usernames ignore letter case.

Depending on how this Larnik is set up you may need to confirm your email address before you can sign in, wait for your account to be approved, or paste an invite code. The sign-up form tells you which applies. If a confirmation email does not arrive, the sign-in screen offers to resend it.

Forgot your password later? Forgot password? on the sign-in screen emails you a link to set a new one. Changing a password signs out every other session on your account.

The intro tour

The first time you open Larnik a short tour points out the home screen's buttons — where to create a list, what the module icons open, import and export, the Trash and this guide. Skip it whenever you like; it does not come back on its own. To see it again, open ⚙ Settings and press Show the intro again.

Make your first list

  1. Press + New list on the home screen.
  2. Give it a name and pick an emoji icon — the icon is how you will recognise it at a glance later.
  3. Choose Items as the kind. (The other kind, Group, holds other lists rather than items — see Lists, items and groups.)

Add things to it

Open the list and type a title into the add bar at the top. Every item has a title, optional notes, and a status that is either pending or done — tap the circle on an item card to flip it.

That is the whole core of the app. Everything else is optional:

  • Custom fields record more than a title — a rating, a year, a director, a due date, tags.
  • Kufaryk, Kinaznautsa and Guliona let several lists point at the same film, game or object instead of retyping it.
  • Arranging the home screen puts your lists in the order you want, under headings you choose.
  • Sharing hands a list to someone else, or publishes a read-only link that needs no account at all.

Getting around

The ← button at the top of a list, board or catalog takes you back a level. On a phone the system Back button does the same, one step at a time: it closes an open window or menu first, then leaves the screen you are on. On the home screen it asks you to press Back once more before it leaves Larnik.

The name Larnik at the top of the home screen and of the trash is a link to your lists as well.

Nothing is lost by accident

Deleting a list, an item, a field or a whole catalog does not destroy it: it goes to your trash, where it can be restored complete with everything inside it. The Trash screen says how long deleted things are kept.
