Importing and exporting spreadsheets
Bring lists in from XLSX, XLS, ODS, CSV or TSV — or export everything, field types included, so it imports back cleanly.
Importing
Larnik reads XLSX, XLS, ODS, CSV and TSV, and there are two ways in:
- A simple import into a list that already exists — ⚙ List settings → ↑ Import on the list screen (list owner only).
- The document wizard — ⋯ → ↑ Import document on the home screen — which turns a sheet into a brand-new list with typed custom fields.
When a workbook has more than one sheet with data in it, both ask which sheet you mean. You then map a Title column (required) and optionally a Notes column; every other column is listed with a checkbox, so you can leave the ones you do not want behind. Each imported column becomes a custom field, with its type pre-set to a best guess you can change.
A file exported from Larnik brings its own types along and needs no re-typing at all.
Kufaryk objects import the same simple way into an existing kind. On a catalog shared with you, only existing fields can be filled — adding new ones is the owner's business. Rows with an empty title are skipped.
When duplicate titles are blocked
If the list or kind has the duplicate titles switch on, an import merges rather than refusing. A row whose title already exists updates that item, and repeated titles within one file fold together. The mapping step then offers two modes:
- Fill blanks only (default) — the existing row keeps everything it has; the import only fills what is empty. An import can never overwrite curated data.
- Overwrite — a non-empty imported value replaces what is there.
An empty cell never blanks an existing value in either mode, and the surviving row keeps its own title. For items, pending counts as empty, so a fill import can mark an open item done but never re-open a finished one. The result screen reports both counts — "9 items imported, 3 merged into existing items".
Exporting
⋯ → ↓ Export all lists on the home screen exports all your lists to XLSX or ODS: one sheet per items list, groups excluded, every custom field value included. ↓ on the Kufaryk kinds screen exports the catalog the same way — one sheet per kind, one row per object, with its live appearance and done counts as columns.
Dates and numbers are written as real spreadsheet cells rather than text, and
a hidden _larnik sheet records each field's type, which is what
lets the file come back in without re-typing anything.
The shared film and game catalogs have no import or export: a search rebuilds any entry in a second.
