Kufaryk — your catalog of reusable objects
Define your own kinds of object once — films, board games, wines, anything — and link list items to them instead of retyping titles.
Kufaryk sits one level above your lists, behind ▦ → 📦 Kufaryk in the home screen header. It holds objects you want to track once and reference from many lists.
Kinds and objects
A kind is a category you invent — "Movie", "Board game", "Wine". Nothing is baked in. Each kind has a name, an icon and its own set of custom fields, shared by every object of that kind. Fields are added from a kind's ⚙ Kind settings.
An object — "Dune" — belongs to exactly one kind and holds its own title, notes and values for that kind's fields. Objects are managed inside a kind's screen; they are catalog entries, not list items.
Card images
An object can carry one picture: a poster, a book cover, box art. Add it from the object's modal with Choose image…. It replaces the emoji on the catalog card and appears as a thumbnail on every list item linked to the object, so a list of films reads as a row of posters.
PNG, JPEG, GIF and WebP up to 5 MB are accepted, checked by their actual content rather than their file extension, and shrunk to a card-sized WebP on the way in. Everywhere it is shown, the picture is framed as a 2:3 poster — anything else is centre-cropped, so crop it yourself first if you care which part survives.
One thing to know: uploaded images sit in a folder the server hands out by URL, not behind your login. The file name is a random token so it cannot be guessed from an object's id, but a link-holder can open it. Do not upload a picture you would mind someone seeing.
Linking items to objects
From a list's add bar, 📦 Catalog creates an item by picking a kind and then an object instead of typing a title. An existing item can be linked from its ✎ modal with 🔗 Link to catalog….
Both appear only in lists where Kufaryk is switched on: a new list starts with every module off, and its owner turns Kufaryk on under ⚙ → Modules. Turning it off again keeps items that are already linked; it only stops new links.
A linked item takes its title and notes live from the object:
- Editing the object updates every item linked to it, everywhere, at once.
- Linking an existing item overwrites whatever title and notes it had.
- Unlink hands the item back its last-synced title and notes as its own, freely editable from then on. The object is untouched.
- Deleting an object unlinks the items that pointed at it — it never deletes them.
An item can be linked to a Kufaryk object, a film or a game — one of the three, never two, because a title can only have one source of truth.
Where a field shows — and who owns its value
Every kind field has an On linked items setting with three answers:
- Show only in object card (the default) — the field lives on the object and nowhere else.
- Show in list, read-only — the field appears on every linked item as a badge, always showing the object's value. Set it once on the object; every item everywhere updates. A "Critic score" behaves like this.
- Show in list, editable per item — inverted: the object does not hold the value at all, each linked item holds its own. This is what lets you rate a film again on every rewatch. The object's card then shows the field read-only, as the live mean of every item's value.
Ratings given on a 10-star field and a 5-star field both feed one average, normalised to a 5-star scale first, and a linked item nobody rated simply does not count. Relinking an item to a different object clears its per-item values — they belonged to the link, not to the item.
Card statistics
Each object's card shows how many items across all your lists link to it, how many of those are done, and its average rating. All three are computed live from your lists, never stored, so they cannot drift.
Import, export and switching it off
The kinds screen exports the whole catalog to XLSX or ODS — one sheet per kind — and a kind's objects screen imports a spreadsheet the same way a list imports items. See Import and export.
Kufaryk is switched on per list: each list's owner turns it on under ⚙ → Modules, and every new list starts with it off. Switching it off never touches existing data or links. If 📦 Kufaryk is missing from the ▦ menu altogether, it is turned off for this Larnik.
