Lists, items and groups
How lists, lists-of-lists, item statuses, per-list sorting and the duplicate-title switch work.
Two kinds of list
An items list holds items: a title, notes, a status and whatever custom fields you gave the list.
A group (a list of lists) holds other lists instead, and shows aggregate progress across them — useful for "2026 reading" sitting above one list per month. Groups cannot be nested inside other groups, and they have no items of their own.
Items
An item is pending or done; the circle on the card toggles it. The ✎ button opens the edit modal, where the title, the notes and every custom field value live.
If the list has fields marked required, marking an item done opens a closure window first: Larnik asks for the required values that are still empty before it lets the item complete. It is the one moment where the app insists on something, and it exists so that a "done" row is never missing the data you set the field up to collect.
Sorting
Each list sorts on its own: by title, creation date, completion date, or any custom field, ascending or descending. The choice lives in list settings and sticks to that list. In Settings you can set the default that every newly created list starts with.
Duplicate titles
Lists (and Kufaryk kinds) have an optional
Duplicate items switch — Allowed by default,
Blocked if you want it. Two titles count as the same when they match
after trimming spaces, collapsing repeated spaces and ignoring case, so
Dune, dune and Dune are one title.
Uniqueness applies within the one list only: the same title can appear in as
many different lists as you like.
Turning it on is only possible while the list is already free of duplicates. If it is not, the save is refused and the message names the offending titles so you can merge or rename them first — the switch never claims something the data does not support. Turning it back off is always allowed.
While it is on, adding or renaming an item onto a taken title is refused, and imports merge instead of failing: a spreadsheet row whose title already exists updates that item rather than creating a second one. See Import and export for the two merge modes.
Deleting
Delete lives inside the thing's own settings modal, on the far left away from Cancel and Save, so it is never the button you hit by accident. Whatever you delete goes to trash and can be restored with its contents intact.
